In August 2019, Fake Office invited 14 Instagram users via DMs to make an Instagram story for Fake Friends, an offline display of content originally meant to be published and viewed online. All users created a story and downloaded it from Instagram before it was shared with their followers. The 14 stories will be on view for 24 hours, on October 4-5, in Fake Office’s project space. Fake Friends will attempt to appropriate the digital format of the social media platform, transmuting it into an offline spatial experience.
