CURRENT Athens is an online platform for the non-hierarchical promotion of contemporary art.
In Hesiod’s “Theogony”, Via (Force), Kratos (the State – Authority – Strength), Zelos (Zeal) and Niki (Victory), are siblings.
One of the main concerns of visual artist Nikos Giavropoulos, curator of the “VIV XVII” exhibition, is Violence, as an everyday phenomenon. If life is the journey-adventure to the completion of man, violence, is the force used to obstruct journey. Seventeen visual artists, a writer, and a director provide valuable insight on the critical issue of violence. Cause, intent, and documentation, are the substances from which artists draw the material to create their work.
