miss dialectic presents the interdisciplinary project Transformations, which is a tribute to contemporary forms of storytelling, and revolves around tales and their connection with the local artistic creation. Through the call and participation of thirty-eight young professionals in the art field and other related fields of contemporary culture, a collective narrative of thirty works in total is created. A polyphonic ‘synthesis’ that introduces the audience to stories that connect the past with the present and future, taking different forms – drawings, collages, sketches, scores, texts, short stories, poems, sound works, photographs, paintings, among others. The narrators are visual artists, curators, writers, architects, designers, fashion designers, and other contemporary cultural creators.

The participants of Transformations are Eleni Bagaki, Panayotis Baras, Klea Charitou, CLOTHESLINES (Eleftheria Arapoglou & Meti Tsoukatou), Fake Office, Danai Giannoglou, Constantinos Hadzinikolaou, Fotini Handra, hush—hush, Hypercomf, Fanis Kafantaris, Andreas Ragnar Kassapis, Myrto Katsimicha, Dimitra Kondylatou, Chrysanthi Koumianaki, Karolina Krasouli, Panayiotis Loukas, Natalia Mavrota, Jacob Moe, Raffaela Naldi Rossano, Kosmas Nikolaou, Malvina Panagiotidi, Nina Papaconstantinou, Agni Papadeli Rossetou, Vasilis Papageorgiou, Phantom Investigations (Giannis Delagrammatikas & Ino Varvariti), Eleni Riga, Despina Sanida-Krezia, Evi Sougkara, Stefania Strouza, Katerina P. Trichia, Evita Tsokanta, Yannikos Vasiloulis, Eva Vaslamatzi, Paky Vlassopoulou.

The project comprises a public program of exhibitions and events with art performances, presentations, and readings, which will take place sporadically and nomadically. The exhibition program unfolds in successive episodes of a total duration of six weeks in different ‘satellite’ spaces in the center of Athens.

The core venue of the public exhibition is the studio A FOREST. The workshop space in Exarchia (Kallidromiou 40) is gradually transformed, while the works it hosts change every week. The space where DOLCE Publishing is housed in Neapoli (Sina 62) serves as a key satellite of the inter-artistic endeavor; not only does it host works – that harmoniously co-exist with the publications in the shop – but also public events (such as book launches, presentations) as part of project.

For six consecutive weeks, both the passers-by of the streets of Kallidromiou and Sina, as well as the visitors of the two spaces, will have the opportunity to wander through a series of exhibitions that succeed one another, and that together shape Transformations. Alongside, several public events take place in other spaces, as well as in open-air locations in the wider area defined by the neighborhoods of Exarchia, Pefkakia and Neapoli:

The first ‘chapter’ opens on Wednesday, January 25, at 18:00, at A FOREST with the ‘narratives’ of Fanis Kafantaris, Stefania Strouza, and Yannikos Vasiloulis (25.–28.1.), to be followed by the presentation of works by Eleni Riga, Evi Sougkara, and CLOTHESLINES (1.–4.2.), Malvina Panagiotidi and Eva Vaslamatzi, Andreas Ragnar Kassapis, and Karolina Krasouli (8.–11.2.), Chrysanthi Koumianaki, Fake Office and hush—hush (15.–18.2.), Constantinos Hadzinikolaou, Fotini Handra, Dimitra Kondylatou, and Paky Vlassopoulou (22.–25.2.). The exhibition series concludes with the ‘episode’ including works by Hypercomf, Jacob Moe, Vasilis Papageorgiou, and Katerina P. Trichia (1.-4.3.).

DOLCE Publishing hosts the works by Eleni Bagaki, Panayotis Baras, and Natalia Mavrota (25.1.–4.3.). The installation by Kosmas Nikolaou is presented in a space that is going to be announced soon (22.–25.2.).

The exact dates and times of the public presentation by Natalia Mavrota, the book launch by Eleni Bagaki, the dance performance by Agni Papadeli Rossetou, and the performative walk by Phantom Investigations (Giannis Delagrammatikas & Ino Varvariti) will be announced soon. The performance by Constantinos Hadzinikolaou and Despina Sanida-Krezia was presented at A FOREST on December 28, 2022.

The audio files of the discussions between Myrto Katsimicha and Nina Papaconstantinou, Danai Giannoglou and Raffaela Naldi Rossano, the dialogue between Evita Tsokanta and Panayiotis Loukas, as well as the speech by Klea Charitou will be available online and freely accessible on miss dialectic’s official website and social media channels in due time.

The project Transformations is based on the research project Transformations. Arts and Tales. A Contemporary Anthology by Eleanna Papathanasiadi, with contributions by: Eleni Bagaki, Panayotis Baras, Klea Charitou, CLOTHESLINES (Eleftheria Arapoglou & Meti Tsoukatou), Stavia Grimani, Constantinos Hadzinikolaou, Fotini Handra, Fake Office & hush—hush, Hypercomf, Fanis Kafantaris, Andreas Ragnar Kassapis, Myrto Katsimicha, Dimitra Kondylatou, Chrysanthi Koumianaki, Karolina Krasouli, Panayiotis Loukas, Natalia Mavrota, Jacob Moe, Kosmas Nikolaou, Malvina Panagiotidi, Nina Papaconstantinou, Agni Papadeli Rossetou, Vasilis Papageorgiou, Phantom Investigations (Giannis Delagrammatikas & Ino Varvariti), Eleni Riga, Evi Sougkara, Stefania Strouza, Katerina P. Curation

miss dialectic is a curatorial team formed in Athens in 2019 and currently run by Klea Charitou, Eleanna Papathanasiadi, and Kelly Tsipni-Kolaza. Having as its starting point the reflection on the social impact and educational character of art, miss dialectic aims to give prominence to the artistic process by re-introducing different communication means. As an ‘art operator,’ the collective aims to open a dialogue with a wider audience. miss dialectic is an endeavor that aspires to empower local artistic production and bridge contemporary art with education, as well as tradition with current technological practices and scientific methods. The team wishes to highlight the different stages of research and production in the art-making process, while at the same time it aspires to bring new connotations of heritage and history in the present space, time, and condition.
