Oikonomia comes from the word oikos, which means house. Thus, what is now called Economy, and what is nowadays determined by the free market, historically resulted from the House Economy. Nowadays dispositives have proliferated to such an extent that resistance seems almost as futile as revolting against capitalism. But what underlies most dispositives, from cell phones to pop, is the desire for happiness.
