The exhibition will close on Saturday 13 January 2018.
Christmas is undoubtedly a very special time of the year with a strong symbolism, deeply etched in our memories and closely attached to the Greek tradition and religion.
The Christmas spirit has sealed the subject matter of art in the past years, having inspired significant Greek artists. From the ethnographic works by Lytras and Gyzis, to the works of Kontoglou, Tsarouchis, Engonopoulos, Parhenis, Gkikas, Modern Greek Art has offered us numerous works representing the birth of Christ or Christmas scenes and customs.
Coming to now, we look for the picture and the meaning of Christmas in the modern times, through the works of 50 artists. The works were created with the occasion of the exhibition. Using numerous styles and techniques, the exhibition narrates a Christmas tale, inviting the viewer to experience their personal Christmas and to look for the spirit and the joy of art.
